Who are Clyde Amateur Rowing Club?

Clyde Amateur Rowing Club has inspired lifelong passion for the sport for many members. Clyde ARC is open to anyone interested in rowing, whether beginner or elite rower. Our membership includes rowers of all ages and levels of ability. Individual goals range from staying fit to competing in local, national or international regattas. Clyde ARC offers opportunities for persons with disabilities to learn to row and participate as recreational or competitive members.

As a not-for-profit organisation, Clyde Amateur Rowing Club is run by volunteers and governed by a yearly member-elected Committee. Clyde ARC's existence and success relies on the time and generosity of its members (and friends), as well as their commitment and enjoyment of rowing. Thank you for making Clyde ARC something to be proud of.

For club members who have registered with the webmaster, there are some additional resources on the website including the Constitution so that a full understanding of the way the club is run is available.

However, we have also included here a brief summary of the goals and aims of the Club for information:

The Aims of the Club:

  • To be inclusive
    • (we do not discriminate on the basis of gender, age, ethnicity, social background, religious, political or sexual inclination)
  • To provide a club where athletes can fulfill their needs within rowing.
  • To increase the club membership
  • To communicate our plans to the Club effectively
  • To contribute to the promotion of rowing as a healthy activity, by encouraging participation
  • To encourage participation in competition
  • To create a financial framework in order to enable the club to meet future challenges (e.g. Boathouse), as well as providing for day to day and year on year equipment requirements.
  • To ensure transparency of the governance within the Club
  • To extend participation both to members and the general Scottish rowing community by the organisation of events
  • To support other clubs and individuals promoting rowing and events with Scotland and Great Britain.
  • To play an active role in contributing to the governance at a Scottish level through attendance and voting at the SARA General Meetings.
